At the risk of sounding like a year 10 persuasive essay. By definition a holiday is and I quote, defined as “ a day of festivity or recreation when no work is done”. Yeah. Nah. Sorry…what? If this is a holiday. Where do I lodge my complaint?
I need to get something off my chest. I just want everyone to know. From my family to the taxi driver to the bee of a woman at the bag shop to my friends. I just want to clarify – I am not on a year-long+ holiday. Fiji was a holiday, and so was Maldives. They were a great and much-needed break for us! I am in the process of trying to organise some other holidays too.
The rest of the time has simply been our life. It is our life, somewhere else. Yes, we are going to be travelling and seeing other places. That is so awesome, I know! It is why I proposed this idea! Maybe I am being pedantic about semantics. I will try not to be frantic. Let’s go see the Atlantic. Okay. I cannot think of anything else that rhymes.
Just to be crystal clear.
Dear friends and family and randoms… as long as you have your heart in the right place, please know I am not having a go at you. To the completely judgemental Douche Canoes that have asked me the same questions, repeatedly, yet want my answers to change. To those people, I will just say I do not understand. I am not sure if it is jealousy as you cannot fathom someone doing this. Or, fear that you think what I am doing is dangerous… Either way, please know. I am okay. We are okay and hush.
I get the distinct feeling most people are assuming my darling husband is footing the bill for our ‘jaunt’ around Asia. To burst that little bubble, it is not true. I am working. I am paying for half the expenses. We are budgeting $100 Australian a day. That doesn’t include flights! We are using credit for that. Not ideal, obvs. Without showing you our tax returns we get by and together we make this happen. Actually, living in Asia is much cheaper for us than living in Australia.
So, to clear up any confusion I will do another Q&A with you all next blog. Got a question – ask away!
